It really isn't possible for a computer to accurately judge dead stones. This is one of the many reasons computers are not good at playing Go. The best a computer program can do is present a suggestion and then let the players take control from there. But even that is generally not desirable, as it only serves to make beginners think they don't need to understand this. They do!
Even for humans, determining dead stones can be very difficult. Try watching a few professional games (or any game by players well above your own playing level) and you will see that capturing races get much more complicated and can confuse the bejesus out of weaker players. However, anyone should be able to determine the dead stones of their own games. If the board position is not clearly settled, then you should continue playing until it is.
