BrainKing users will still have access to those DBs, so the point about protecting children or sensitive users from "harmfull" content is moot.
All the rants about over sensitive moderators will continue, since it will probably still be moderated by the same users that are responsible for that now a days * If you want to allow people to create their own DBs, just create an extra category where user's DBs will be stored and change the UserAggreement to specify that the content in those boards is not as restrictive as on the other boards. Sooner or later people will start requesting red numbers for DBs in the other site or other similar features. You say they will be independent, but then again so is this blog and it still shows up on BrainKing.com's main page every day, so I'm guessing interaction between the two sites is more than likely to happen sooner or later. As you can see my opinion is that there really is no need for an extra DB system. But I've been around far enough to know that once you've put your mind to something it will be done sooner or later Comments (3)
The point is not to protect sensitive users but to protect me from the sensitive users' complaints.
The real purpose of separating the board system from the main BrainKing site is the better control of system resources usage. I don't want to make BrainKing overloaded when too many public boards are created and I don't want to spend too much time improving the internal BrainKing board system to handle all possible overload situations. If the board site collapses, BrainKing will continue to work. Comments (2)
Well, if you're going to do it and you have your mind set on it, fine with me. I would imagine there would still be some discussion options within the BrainKing structure itself (sorry I'm not fully seeing the full idea here). For example, the individual tournament discussion boards would still be created and available to us for discussions of the tourney. Fellowships would still be available I'm guessing. Just that the main public boards would be a thing of the past. Is that right?

No, there will be no change to the current set of discussion boards on BrainKing. This feature is to be something like an add-on. Who doesn't want to use it, still can post to the normal BrainKing boards and won't notice any difference.

Having the site external makes it very easy to protect kids. Most people now a days have a router with the capability of blocking sites so you could just block that domain name. if you don't have a router and use a windows computer just add the following line to "c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts"
10.0.0.1 [tab] brainking.info this will make it impossible for the computer to go to that site. Comment (1)
Yes, you're right, I hadn't tought about it like that...

Are you talking about something similar to paltalk.com that we use in the Madhouse to chat off-site ?
If so i think its a great idea each Fellowship could run there own room (if they wish) and public Discussion forums could be held to discuss any topic. Also if you choose (as in Fencer) you could create the MAIN brainking boards there (brainking.com, Feature requests, Computer, Tournaments and General), then the Main boards on brainking could be used as just posts for example and announcements. Obviously, any rooms created by individual's they would be responsible for and the site Main ones you will (or current mods that wish to) manage. Presuming these will still be open to all age groups so will have to be monitored carefully, maybe a group of mods that have access and privileges on all boards (just take all Main board mods now, easy). Lastly i think if you are going to create such a system alot of the Features on paltalk are worth taking a look at. I dont think we need mics or video cams (but would be great in the future), but being able to open IM windows would be great. Well, thats some of my comments, i have lots more as i have used paltalk for years. Thats if you are thinking about going along those lines. Comment (1)
